Even Microsoft Bing Can Make Simple Internet Usability Mistakes.
If you want to change your settings on Microsoft Bing it is pretty straightforward. I wanted to change my default search results to the United States. I clicked on the top right hamburger menu and then clicked on Settings and then on Country/region.
At the top was a list of important countries but I went straight to “See more countries/regions”. I did that out of habit as it can be faster especially because with global digital marketing, some of our clients target countries that aren’t in the 20 most common targeting.
I have a habit of automatically clicking on the See More buttons to save time. This way I only have to check one list.
However, this time I was surprised. The United States was not on the list. Why wouldn’t Microsoft add the United States to both lists? It wouldn’t cost them any money. It would eliminate possible mistakes.
The proofreaders have to check both lists to ensure no countries are missing. If they had, I wouldn’t have wasted my time having to figure out what was going on. Then going back to the first list, and finally, having to write a blog post about it :).
Surprisingly - the United States is missing on the list of countries. Guess it is not an important country :).
